In this book from Hinoki Press, Kobayashi Satoru, one of the top current Japanese pros,
uses his own games to show how to determine the correct direction of play, that is,
the proper direction to develop or the proper area to play in. This is particularly
important in the opening and early middle game, and a good sense of direction is essential
for becoming a strong player. One interesting section of the book shows how the go masters
before Honinbo Dosaku were poor in judging direction of play,
though they were highly skilled in fighting.

vol 5: the way of creating a thick and strong game
Hane Naoki uses examples from his own games to explain the concept of thickness, how to create it,
and how to use it. His style is not to use thickness to attack, but to have a relaxed game.
