Description

Once upon a time, there was a lonely King of Spades. He acted tough, but without realizing it, he missed her. She was the Queen of Hearts. When he first saw her, he knew she was the one who had been missing from his side. Soon, the King of Hearts, the King of Clubs, and the King of Diamonds were serenading the Queen of Hearts. Things got a little crowded under her balcony when the Jack of Hearts, the Jack of Diamonds Herman Brood, and the Jack of Clubs Mohamed Ali also showed up. The Queen of Diamonds, Billie Holiday, along with the Queens of Clubs, the Williams sisters, came to the rescue. They asked their friend, the Queen of Spades, Josephine Lucia, to join them in a game of cards. Jack of Spades Bert Wouters handled the catering and cooked with bottles. Meanwhile, he painted the Ace of Hearts - the Palace on Dam Square by architect Jacob van Campen from 1655; the Ace of Spades - the Stadsschouwburg by architect Jan Springer from 1894; the Ace of Clubs - the Olympic Stadium designed by architect Jan Wils in 1928; and the Ace of Diamonds - the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ designed by the architectural firm 3 x Nielsen in 2005. A year after his encounter with the Queen of Hearts, the deck—including the Joker and all the numbered cards—was complete, and the King of Spades and the Queen of Hearts lived happily ever after in the deck of cards.
