999 Games has been publishing "Catan" since 1998. Since then, not only have many new variants and expansions been released, but also entirely new editions featuring detailed plastic game pieces instead of the original wooden ones.
Because new products are being developed for the current edition of the base game, it is not always possible to combine them with older editions.
With the game materials from this adaptation set, it is possible to combine the new plastic expansions with the original (wooden) edition of the base game. Graphical modifications are not included.
